SECOND AVENUE, Astoria, Queens, N.Y., ca. 1890
A wide view of the neighborhood to which the Flanagans moved during the 1850s.
This map was made, unfortunately, about 40 years afterwards, and the
neighborhood was undoubtedly much changed in the interim.
I've added some old street names to the image that were not included in this section.
Some time after this map was made, Elm Street was extended eastward
two blocks to meet 2nd Avenue.
You can see the phantom of the word ST. between 1st and 2nd Avenues,
where it was to extend.
Close-up of 2nd and Grand.
